It can be hard staying on a healthy track when traveling. We seem to let our guards down at the airport when there are salty snacks and fatty lunch options surrounding us. When driving, it seems that even the healthiest options are filled with processed meats, iceberg lettuce, and breads filled with high-fructose corn syrup. Whether you are going on that much needed vacation, or you’re jet setting on yet another business trip, here are a few essential items to take with you.

It can seem time consuming to prepare and pack healthy snacks for your trip. After all, it’s easy to find food when traveling! But if you’re trying to avoid greasy fast food options and snacks out of the vending machines, then it’s time to roll up your sleeves and start cutting vegetables. Make hummus using chickpeas or black beans because the beans will help you stay fuller, longer. Dip with veggies instead of chips and crackers.

It can be hard to travel with those leafy greens like kale and spinach, but you can always find a green drink that comes in the form of a powder or liquid, and it will give you the healthy dose of nutrients you were looking for. And don’t forget to pack a little dark chocolate for sugar cravings!


There are a lot of ways that you can fit protein into your travel plans. First you have the option of protein powders that you can mix with milk, coconut milk, or water. You also have the option of a protein bars. Make sure that you select an option that does not have a lot of sugar in it, but does have a good amount of fiber. Both of these protein rich items are easy to travel with, and extremely convenient.

Green Tea

Green tea isn’t just great in the winter when you are feeling under the weather. It is perfect for soothing the chaos that can come with traveling. If you are going to a destination that is hot, then by all means pour your tea over ice and have a chilled glass! Add a little honey to sweeten it and you’ll feel calm and refreshed for everything your day brings.


There are a lot of little extras that you should consider packing for your trip as well such as an eye mask and headphones. Be sure you have your favorite music downloaded for when you want to drown out the world and take a moment to yourself.
